Vera's Spring Break: Days 3 and 4

Hi everyone! Because this is my vacation, I didn't document much yesterday, so today's post is a combination of two days. This might be a slight picture heavy post, so beware! ;)

Day 3's breakfast has been the best so far. We went to this amazing coffee shop, District, where they make HUGE, delicious donuts.

Not even Duchess Swan can resist chocolate! :D

The rest of the day was spent wandering around shops and the French Quarter, so I didn't take too many pictures. I did take a few of Duchess in a hat shop.

That was all for day 3! I told you I didn't document much. ;)

Today we went to the WWII Museum, which was a somber yet wonderful museum. I took a few photos of some of the planes in the newest building.

I also took a picture of a woman's army uniform. We thought it looked just like Agent Carter's! (Love that show! You need to watch it. Come back and fangirl with me later. ;P)

If you do go to the museum, be sure not to miss The Road to Berlin. It is probably one of the best historical museum exhibits in the world. Here, have a snowy car, because almost everything else in the exhibit was digital. :P

For lunch, we ate at the most amazing sandwich shop, Cochon Butcher. I don't have a picture of my sandwich, so have a picture of my amazing triple (!!!!!) chocolate cookie.

Later in the day, we went to Audobon Park, which had a playground on site. While my little sister ran around and played, Duchess felt like being adventurous. ;)

Sorry for the glare on her face. :P

This graffiti on the slide was too hillarious not to post.

It reads, "hotel, made of blocks of salt, is where I sleep, when I dream about flamingos". Yep. Interpret that however you want. ;)

After our day of adventure, we went to an amazing Mexican restaurant, Juan's Flying Burrito. I made an attempt at drawing the said "flying burrito" logo, and Duchess posed beside it.

The red thing on the side is supposed to be a literal flying burrito by the way. :)

That about wraps it up for today and yesterday! Tommorow's our last full day in New Orleans, and expect PLENTY of pictures from Mardi Gras World. I'll see you all then!

Vera

Vera's Spring Break: Day 2

Hey again! Day 2 of our journey brought us in to the city of New Orleans! I got a few good pictures today, of the city and Duchess (my traveling companion) so let's get started!

This morning, I had THE BEST cinnamon roll in the world at a little bakery/coffee shop in Mobile, Cream and Sugar.

Jealous? ;)

We then drove a little distance, and came to the beautiful city of New Orleans! When we got there, we road the streetcar to the French Quarter. I didn't take many pictures, but this one's too funny not to share:

Yes, that is a live cat sleeping in the front window of an art gallery. :D

About this time, there were some great photo operatunities, so I took advantage of them.

For lunch/dinner, we ate at an amazing Italian/pizza place.

It was so good, Duchess stole a few bites. ;)

In the lobbey of the hotel where the restaurant was, I took a few more pictures of Duchess, and experimented with some different filters.

The flowers were really pretty. :)

Later in the evening, we walked around the area near our hotel. We came across this huge mansion with lighting equipment on the porch;

A Google search later revealed that this is the shooting place for the next season of American Horror Story. I don't watch (and probably never will!), but it was a really cool house. ;)

When we came back to the hotel, we hung out in the little outside courtyard for a few minutes, so I took some more pictures of Duchess.

That's all for now! I hope you enjoyed this travel log, and I'll see all of you tomorrow for the next update of our continuing journey.

Love,
Vera

Vera's Spring Break: Day 1

Hey there everypony! This week is Valerie and I's spring break, and my family is traveling to New Orleans! To break the up the long car ride, we first stopped in Mobile, Alabama. I don't have a ton of pictures (we spent most of the day in the car), but I did take a few downtown and of Duchess at the top level hotel lounge. Read on for a short recap of my first day of vacation!

First, a few pics from downtown Mobile.

Mardi Gras season is still here! This huge box of necklaces was outside an antique shop.

There was a small park outside the art institute, and there were a few sculptures like this one in it.

We went to a small nature reserve, and this sign made me laugh. My dad kept teasing my sister and I by pointing out where gators might be hiding. :D

This next sign only fueled his teasing more. ;) The disclaimer is hilarious, though.

After a little walking around, we had the BEST barbeque in the world! I didn't get a picture, but if you happen to drive through Mobile, stop by Moe's Original Bar B Que. You can thank me later. ;)

Finally, I did a mini photoshoot with Duchess at the lounge on the 17th floor of our hotel. There was a great view of the whole city from the windows! Excuse the blurryness/graininess as the lighting was not that great. :}

That's all for today! I hope all of you have/had a great spring break, and I'll keep posting about each day. :D

Vera
